When you listen to the first track on this album, “Inhaler”, you will understand what all the buzz is about. This band definitely has elements in common with Portishead, Massive Attack, Eno and Morcheeba, but they manage to put together a very original and exquisite sound. Musically, this album is layered from beginning to end with dreamy instrumentals. The beats, the drum & bass, and the trip hop really grooves. While most electronica seems to loose itself in repeating, Hooverphonic keeps their songs strong with killer guitar riffs topped with Liesje Sadonius’ charming and sexy dreampop voice, creating haunting very emotional music.
