‘Dr. Buzzards Original Savannah Band’ was conceived by half-brothers Stony Browder Jr. (1949 - 2001) and the one year older Thomas Browder (aka August Darnell aka Kid Creole). The Browder Brothers created a really beautiful thing; a cocktail of calypso, rhumba, cha-cha-chá, nostalgia and disco which eventually fermented into the mad Caribbean flavors of the later ‘Kid Creole & the Coconuts’. Their music blended disco beats with rhythms from other genres. In the mid-seventies New York Disco era there was nothing bigger than hitting the floor with “I’ll Play the Fool” which alongside “Cherchez la Femme” and “Sunshower” was the killer cut from this album.
